Who We Are
Steve found his love of boating at an early age when his grandfather introduced
him to boats and a boating lifestyle. They had a house on the Kennebec River and a camp on a Boothbay Harbor island, and one of the best days of young Steve’s life was when his grandfather deemed him ready to drive the boat down the river to camp.
Steve got his first boat as a teenager. It needed a lot of work. He refurbished it, installed an updated motor and then sold the boat for twice what he paid for it—using the money to by his next boat, and fueling a lifelong hobby. In 2008 he put his hobby to work for him, leaving the construction industry and beginning to work for a local marina.

In 2021 Steve and Samantha decided to turn their passion for the boating and outdoor lifestyle into a business, and Gussy Up Reconditioning was born. Steve does the boat detailing (Sam can’t detail well enough to gain his approval), and Samantha helps with paperwork, scheduling and focusing on the custom lettering.
Going Places
Our canine companions have changed, but they love exploring by boat as much as we do.
Tigger thinks he needs to be Cap’t, while Daisy still loves the sea air in her face.
